Choosing the best weapon for the job, our Facebook group discusses
Whether it’s camping, a societal collapse, or Squash Your Squash (haven’t heard of Squash Your Squash? Don’t worry, come fall it’ll have its own section of AT; stay tuned!), I’ve been interested in what weapons work best for people. Taking a pole in the Facebook Discussion Group provided this insight on the best weapons and why.
First, I want to list some of the weapons.
- Pocket knife
- Fixed blade knife
- Leatherman OHT Multitool
- Bow, specifically a recurve bow
- One’s brain
- .44 cal
I find the “brain” interesting. Is this more a weapon or a tool? I suppose it depends on how it is used. What’s most remarkable is the why for the best weapon chosen for whatever job.
The Top Reasons for Choosing a Weapon
- Discreet. Being able to hide or keep a weapon hidden proved important in the discussion.
- Multi-purpose, self-defense and survival. As we explored with the hatchet, the combination of weapon and tool hits the sweet-spot for your gear.
- Primitive credibility. If it can serve a primitive purpose, chances are you have something reliable and tested.
What would you add to the list? Is there a weapon you are curious about but need exposure to?
